About us

The Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic was established with the clear goal of improving the current state of tourism and sport in Slovakia. Our main mission is to bring more funds to these areas, increase their level, introduce a systematic approach to financing and increase revenues from tourism and sports to the state budget.

We have a clear vision and strategy on how to achieve these goals. Our key topics are:

  • Management system: Efficient and transparent management in all areas.
  • Digitization and innovation: The use of modern technologies for data collection and activity management. Delivering innovations that will increase efficiency and enable further development.
  • Sustainability: Long-term development and protection of natural resources, but also economic sustainability of projects.
  • Synergies of tourism and sport: Linking these two areas for maximum effect.
  • Data and analytics: Using data for management and decision-making.

Tourism

In the field of tourism, we focus on the following topics:

  • Identity and brand of Slovakia: Setting up the identity of the country's brand, managing the brand of Slovakia and its promotion.
  • Foreign tourism: Changing the ratio of foreign and domestic tourists to 60/40.
  • CR Support Fund: Support for projects of cities and small entrepreneurs to improve infrastructure.
  • Education and employment: Increasing interest in working in the gastronomy and hospitality industry.
  • Spa: The use of natural resources and the development of the area.
  • eVisitor: Collection and transparent use of data for decision-making and management.

Sport

In the field of sports, we focus on the following topics:

  • Funding for sport: Securing more funding and systematic allocation.
  • Sports infrastructure: Gradual correction of neglected infrastructure.
  • Education: Development of talents and systematic work with youth, improvement of the quality of coaches and professionals.
  • Sport for all: Promoting recreational sport.
  • Top sports events: Organization of events that promote Slovakia and contribute to the budget.
  • Inclusion in sport: Creating conditions for sport for all.
