The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has completed the selection of a new headquarters. Primarily, the search focused on premises that belong to state institutions. However, no building that met the requirements was available. Therefore, the search has expanded to the private sector. Therefore, with the intention of maximally transparent access, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports provided a real estate market survey in the months of February to April in order to find a suitable space for the resort. The whole process took place under the supervision of the Value for Money Department.

At the beginning, 15 entities participated in the two-round call, after inspections and discussions, the selection was narrowed down to 3 suitable options. The whole process was open to any entities that met the minimum requirements. In the second round, the requirements for the building were specified and in the end, from the final selection, the commission recommended one space that not only meets the spatial requirements, but is the most advantageous, especially in terms of value for money. The layout of the building, the readiness of the premises, technical and technological equipment and furniture also played a fundamental role in deciding on the final choice. The entire selection of the new headquarters was also consulted with the Ministry of Finance and the Value for Money Department, which approved the process of selecting the future contractual relationship.

Last week, Minister Dušan Keketi submitted a proposal at a meeting of the Government of the Slovak Republic to address the future lease of the premises of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic and organizations under its competence. The government approved the conclusion of the contractual relationship, and the contract was finally signed today, 14/05/2024. A move is currently underway. The ministry will have its headquarters in the Warehouse No. 7 building on Pribinova Street No. 8 in Bratislava. It will be located in these premises together with the Anti-Doping Agency and the upcoming Tourism Support Fund. This historic building is a technical monument, it has been sensitively renovated as part of the revitalization of the industrial area in the port environment. Maintaining the original appearance is good news for tourism. It is one of the first buildings to be seen by tourists arriving in the city by boat.

This space is modernized, energy-efficient and offers sufficient space for the Ministry and two subordinate organizations.

From the submitted price offers, the commission also evaluated the most economical length of the future lease period, namely for a period of 10 years, as the 5+5 and 7-year offers were an order of magnitude more expensive, in some cases by up to EUR 3 perm2. The contract will be concluded for 10 years, due to more favorable conditions. The total rental price is EUR 19.94 per month with VAT perm2 of area of 4,975m2 (the price without VAT is EUR 16.62 – for comparison with the prices quoted on the real estate market, which are valid for commercial entities – VAT payers). When recalculating the total common operating costs, energy, technical equipment of the property, equipment and parking for 10 years, the difference between the winning and the second bid was almost 400 thousand euros. The difference between the winner and the third in the order was more than 600 thousand euros.

The contract was published in the Central Register of Contracts.
