The Minister of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic, Rudolf Huliak, today solemnly received the most important Slovak chefs and confectioners, to whom he handed over letters of thanks for their extraordinary contribution to the development of Slovak gastronomy, professional excellence and creative approach. The awarded experts have long and significantly represented the Slovak gastronomic sector at home and abroad.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized that gastronomy is one of the key components of tourism and an important element of national identity today. "You are the ones who can present Slovakia to the world through taste – through honest recipes, quality ingredients and culinary art that carries our tradition and modern spirit. You are ambassadors of our country and you strengthen the good name of Slovakia with your work," said the minister.
The award-winning chefs and confectioners work in top operations, are represented at domestic and international gastronomic competitions and contribute to the development of the professional level of the entire industry in the long term. In addition to their own creative work, many of them are also actively involved in educating a new generation of culinary talents.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that it is the gastronomic sector that has a growing impact on the development of regions and strengthens the attractiveness of Slovakia as a tourist destination. According to him, respect for tradition, work with local ingredients and modern food processing are what domestic and foreign visitors are looking for today.
The event was dedicated to thanking the experts who have been moving Slovak gastronomy forward for a long time, and at the same time emphasizing its importance for the overall development of tourism in Slovakia. The Minister praised their work, commitment and creative approach and expressed his belief that they will continue to be an inspiration for the entire gastronomic community.
