The Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic, Rudolf Huliak, today received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Slovakia, H.E. CAI Ge. The main topic of the negotiations was bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism and sports between the Slovak Republic and the People's Republic of China.

Minister Huliak and CAI Ambassador Ge agreed that the activities and development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism have been subdued in recent years, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both expressed interest in renewing and strengthening mutual relations and activities in this sector.

"Slovakia has a lot to offer to Chinese tourists – from beautiful nature, historical monuments, to unique spa facilities. Negotiations with the Ambassador confirmed that there is room for expanding cooperation and that Slovakia can be an attractive destination for Chinese visitors. Our ambition is to get Slovakia into the portfolio of Chinese tour operators and to intensify marketing activities on the Chinese market," said Minister Huliak.

Although China is not currently one of the priority markets, Minister Huliak emphasized its potential and expressed interest in a thorough analysis of the Chinese market in order to identify target segments and population groups for marketing activities.

Rudolf Huliak and CAI Ambassador Ge also discussed the possible deepening of cooperation in the field of sports, especially in the areas of experience exchange, training programs and youth sports. "China is a sports powerhouse, and therefore we are interested in exchanging training methodologies and experience, especially in table tennis, gymnastics, weightlifting or swimming. At the same time, we would like to open up space for cooperation in team sports such as basketball and football. I believe that the mutual exchange of sk?It can be beneficial for both countries," the minister added.

CAI Ambassador Ge appreciated the openness and initiative of Minister Huliak and expressed interest in further negotiations and concrete steps to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
